The year 2020 has thrown the entire wedding industry for a loop. I don’t think any of the vendors or couples planning for a 2020 wedding could have imagined how the late winter and spring would pan out, and the effects of the virus on the wedding industry has been heartbreaking. While I have had several of my couples opt to push their entire wedding days to next year, one of my early summer couples, Carly and Zach, refused to let this pandemic change their plans of finally getting married. These cuties have been together since high-school and had been whole-heartedly looking forward to June 6th as the day when they would finally, finally become husband and wife. Their big celebration with all of their family and friends may have been pushed back to later this summer, but they knew in their hearts that they still wanted to get married on their original wedding date, surrounded by family and their closest friends.

When Carly reached out amidst the craziness to let me know they still planned on getting married that day, I knew I wanted to be a part of whatever intimate celebration they were dreaming up. These two are such kind, beautiful people (inside and out!) and I knew that I wanted to capture the moment they said “I do” and started the next chapter of their incredible love story. It turns out that their intimate backyard wedding was JUST what my own creative heart needed after the last few months of so much sadness and uncertainty. I truly cannot even describe the complete JOY that was felt by everyone there that day. It was magical. And I get to see these two + photograph their BIG wedding celebration in just a few months!? I feel like the luckiest photographer ever.
