FINE ART WEDDING INSPIRATION | PENNSYLVANIA CAPITOL BUILDING

Every winter I get the itch to start planning a styled shoot. Maybe it’s because by then, it has been a few months since I last got the chance to photograph a wedding. Or maybe it’s because I just crave the opportunity to get something, anything in front of my camera that isn’t my uncooperative, camera-hating toddlers. Either way, that familiar itch crept up earlier this year, and I knew I needed to pull something together to flex my creative muscle. Thankfully, another local photographer, Kelsey, of Kelsey Renee Photography, was wanting to do that exact same thing, and we quickly decided that we were going to plan a styled shoot for late February.

Our vision for the session was a romantic, fine art style shoot staged at the Harrisburg Capitol Building. The incredibly talented florist Sandy (of Sandra Porterfield Floral) provided the most STUNNING bouquet – soft, lush, with an abundance of greens and muted pinks…oh so perfect for a winter wedding. The hair and make-up artist Nikki (of Hair & Make-up by Nikki D) worked her magic and turned our “bride” Julia into a glowing. radiant beauty with shades of rose-gold makeup and the most perfectly-imperfect updo. The beautiful invitations and other paper goods were provided by Ashley (of RSVP Love), and I truly loved styling the invitation suite with florals, ribbon, and the prettiest blush pink Mrs. Box ring box. The exquisite bridal gown, designed by Madison James and provided by the lovely Posh Bridal boutique was the long-sleeved winter wedding gown of my dreams! A special thanks, also, to Julia and Nick, our real-life couple whose “real life” wedding I have the honor of photographing next May.

For the actual day of the shoot, we were blessed with seasonably mild temperatures and lots of sunshine! We photographed around the Capitol Building for a couple hours before ending on the steps right out front, and whew, did we have a beautiful sunset to end the night. I could not be more thrilled with these portraits and I hope you enjoy them, too!
