Hi friends! Yesterday evening I publicly announced the craziest, most wonderful news – I’m having a baby! In JUNE! Crazy, right?

When I first found out I was expecting, my absolute first thought was , “My business! My couples! Is this seriously happening?!” While I was thrilled beyond belief (and a bit scared, to be honest!) to begin a family with my incredible husband, Matt, I knew that having a summer baby as a wedding photographer was going to present it’s own unique problems. Every wedding photographer I know has *planned* to have a winter baby, yet sometimes our plans don’t always turn out how we think they will. If there is anything I have learned since mid-October, it is that trusting the Lord with this surprise blessing was going to be the most challenging, yet rewarding thing. I’ve had to learn to say “no” to weddings and sessions past mid-May, all of June, and most of July. Three months that are always VERY busy for my business, suddenly had to stay open and free of commitments. Talk about challenging! 

Thankfully, this sweet nugget will arrive in plenty of time for me to be able to still shoot plenty of early-spring and beautiful fall weddings. At this point I am only booking a total of FIFTEEN weddings for next year. I am a little over half-way booked for next year already, and can only take on about 5 or 6 more weddings. So if you are reading this and am interested in booking JBP for your wedding next year, now is the time to inquire! I know that “taking it easy” next summer will be the right thing for my family and for my own sanity as I adjust to being a momma. 

As for this pregnancy, I am so glad to almost be out of the first-trimester and I hope to start feeling better soon! The past couple months have been very challenging for me, as I’ve struggled to stay awake while editing late into the night (the exhaustion is REAL!), and the overall “sick” feeling thats been lingering during weddings and sessions. Matt and I are so excited to find out the gender of our baby in another month or so, but for now we are referring to it as “Nemo” 🙂 I haven’t had many weird food cravings, but you can usually find me munching on popcorn and guzzling cranberry gingerale!

To all my 2017 couples – I am SO incredibly excited to work with you next year! Choosing me to photograph your wedding is truly the biggest honor, and I’m so thankful for you. E-mail responses may be a bit slow come next June when the baby arrives, but I promise I’ll be checking in to make sure all the details for your wedding day are nailed down so you can have the most amazing day ever. I appreciate your patience as I navigate the world of being a new mom, and hopefully you won’t be annoyed if I have to pull up a picture of Baby Trostle to show you 😉 

To the greatest adventure Matt and I will ever embark on -June can’t be here soon enough!
